Route & Steps

  1. Step 1 Take the Skyliner toward Asakusa

Take the Keisei Skyliner from Narita Airport to Aoto, then continue via Toei Asakusa Line directly to Asakusa Station (no transfer). Or exit at Nippori and travel toward Ueno/Asakusa. ~60–75 min.

💡 The Skyliner connects directly to the Toei Asakusa Line at Aoto, so you can reach Asakusa without a transfer. Check onboard announcements.

  2. Step 2 Board the Tobu Limited Express at Tobu-Asakusa

From Tobu-Asakusa Station, take the Limited Express (Liberty Kinu, Spacia X, etc.) to Tobu-Nikko (~110 min). A limited express surcharge (¥1,500–2,500) applies. Reservation recommended.

💡 Spacia X (launched 2023) features private compartments — great for a luxurious ride (extra charge).

  3. Step 3 Arrive at Tobu-Nikko / head to sights or accommodation

From Tobu-Nikko Station, it's ~7 min by bus to Toshogu. For Oku-Nikko, Lake Chuzenji, or Yumoto onsen, add 30–60 min by bus. Some inns offer shuttle service.

Important Notes

  • The Tobu Limited Express requires reserved seats — book in advance, especially during holidays and autumn foliage season (Oct–Nov) when it sells out early.
  • The JR route (Tokyo → Utsunomiya Shinkansen → Nikko Line) involves more transfers and tends to cost more.
  • For heavy luggage, use the courier desk at Narita Airport. Coin lockers are also available at Tobu-Nikko Station.
  • Nikko Toshogu is very crowded on weekends, Golden Week, and during foliage season. Visit early in the morning.
