Route & Steps
- Step 1 Board the N'EX to Shinjuku
Take the JR Narita Express (N'EX) directly to Shinjuku (~90 min). All seats reserved. Shinjuku connects directly to Busta Shinjuku, making the transfer easy.
💡 Use the 'N'EX Tokyo Round Trip Ticket' (¥4,000) for a big discount. Easier with luggage than Skyliner + Yamanote Line.
- Step 2 Take the Fujikyu Bus from Busta Shinjuku
Busta Shinjuku (4F, connected to JR Shinjuku South Exit) runs Fujikyu highway buses to Kawaguchiko, Mt. Fuji 5th Station (summer only), etc. ~2–2.5 hours (3+ hrs in traffic). Reservation recommended.
💡 Busta Shinjuku is 1–2 minutes on foot from JR Shinjuku South Exit. Elevator-accessible — easy with large bags.
- Step 3 Arrive at Kawaguchiko / Fujiyoshida area
The bus stops at Kawaguchiko Station, Fuji-Q Highland, and Mt. Fuji 5th Station (summer). Access your accommodation by Fujikyu Railway or local bus. Most lodgings are near Kawaguchiko Station.
Important Notes
- The Mt. Fuji 5th Station bus only runs in summer (July–September). Outside that season the bus terminates at Kawaguchiko.
- Traffic jams are common on the Shinjuku–Kawaguchiko route, especially on weekends and holidays. Allow 30–60 minutes extra.
- If planning to climb Mt. Fuji, confirm the climbing season (July–September) and trail regulations in advance.
- For heavy luggage, use the courier service at Narita to send to your accommodation.
FAQ
Can I get to Mt. Fuji 5th Station directly from Narita?
There is no direct bus from Narita Airport to Mt. Fuji 5th Station. Take the N'EX to Shinjuku, then a Fujikyu bus to the 5th Station (summer only). Total ~4–5 hours.
Is a day trip to Mt. Fuji from Narita possible on arrival day?
The distance allows it in theory, but with ~7–8 hours of round-trip travel, a same-day round trip is not realistic. Stay 1 night and explore at your leisure.
Where is Busta Shinjuku?
Exit JR Shinjuku Station at the South Exit (Sazan Terrace/Koshu Kaido Exit) and follow 'Busta Shinjuku' signs — it's a 1–2 minute walk to the 4F bus terminal.
Can I travel with heavy luggage?
Yes. Use the courier service at Narita Airport (Yamato/Sagawa) to deliver luggage to your accommodation. Highway buses have luggage compartments, but loading can be slow during peak times.
